The We RUN Club is a GIRLS ONLY running club. We RUN means: Reach your goal, Unleash your potential and Never give up.
The mission is to educate and empower girls at an early age in order to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles. Additionally, they build cardio-respiratory endurance, increase muscular strength and endurance, and improve agility and flexibility. Workouts are self-paced and individually challenging and LOTS OF FUN! The final goal of all clubs is to participate in the Jackson R2 Wellness Run at the end of the year to benefit the Backpack for Friday (BFF) program.
Each school has it's own We RUN Club and schedule. See below for information from each participating school:
West Lane - Starts the first week of September and goes through the 5K at the end of the school year (normally in April). Meet on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30. This is for 4th and 5th grade girls. If you have questions, you may contact Ali Featherston at 243-9565.
North - Starts at the end of January and finishes with the 5K at the end of the school year. Meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:45-5:00. This is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls. If you have questions, you may contact Tammy Eggers at 243-9590.
East - Starts in mid-January and finishes with the 5K at the end of the school year. Meet on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30. This is for 4th and 5th grade girls. If you have questions, you may contact Lori Heuring at 243-5271.
South - Starts the first week of February and finishes with the 5K at the end of the school year. Meet on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45. This is for 4th and 5th grade girls. If you have questions, you may contact Jill Eldridge or Wendy McBryde at 243-9575.
Orchard - Starts in the Spring and finishes with the 1 mile run/walk at the end of the school year. Meet weekly for 6 weeks. This is for 2nd grade girls. If you have questions, you may contact Joyce McIntosh at 243-9555.
BOYS RUNNING CLUBS:
West Lane - Boys Boot Camp is available to 4th and 5th grade boys in the Spring semester (dates will be announced and a note will be sent home). Meet once a week from 3:30-4:30. If you have questions, you may contact Sarah Goodwin at 243-9565.
East - Boys Boot Camp (formerly Boys We RUN) is available to 4th and 5th grade boys. It will start mid-January and meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. If you have questions, you may contact Stacy Bohnsack at 243-5271.
South - Need for Speed is offered to 4th and 5th grade boys. It will start in February and meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:45. If you have questions, you may contact Joel Melchior at 243-9575.
Orchard - Boys Boot Camp is offered to 2nd grade boys. It starts in the fall and they meet weekly for 6 weeks. If you have questions, you may contact Joyce McIntosh at 243-9555.
*Healthy snacks are provided for all clubs from the SHI (Student Health Index) state grant.
