Author Judy Young Spends Day At South
Award-winning, children’s author, Judy Young spent Thursday, March 29th with students and teachers at South. She shared her books about the Oregon Trail. That evening, she came back to South with a presentation on being an author for our Family Fun Evening.

Over fifty 4th and 5th grade students met the first week of March to vote for their favorite Mark Twain Nominee. The meeting was held in the school library over the students’ lunch period. Lively discussion was shared over the students’ favorite books on this year’s Mark Twain list.
Next meeting will be April 25th for any student who voted. Lunch from Chick-Fil-A will be provided compliments of PTO.
Photos of students who have read at least four, and eligible to vote statewide, are displayed on the library windows.

“Wilder Bunch” Book Club:
(In honor of Missouri author-
Laura Ingalls Wilder)
There’s a new book club at South!! The third graders are invited to read a different genre each month and complete a book report form provided by Mrs. Skelton. The students who complete the book report will be invited to a monthly meeting in the library. Snacks will be provided and discussion will be based on the genre of the month.
This Month’s Genre: Fantasy
