PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support)

Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) is a proactive approach to put behavioral/social skills strategies in place for all students while also building in support for those at risk for and/or those who receive special education services. The link to the state PBIS website is: http://pbismissouri.org/ In 2011, South Elementary implemented PBIS schoolwide.
Students at South Elementary are being taught positive behaviors and social skills. Below is a link to our South Elementary matrices, which lists all of our schoolwide expectations.

Our school focuses on a specific skill for an entire week. Here is a list of lessons we are teaching each week and where in the building our focus is: http://www.jacksonr2schools.com/files/South_Files/PBIS_Lessons.doc
Students may earn Tribal Tickets from any staff member at South any time they are caught being respectful, responsible, or safe. Classroom teachers then recognize and reward students for good behavior. Also, every Friday a child from each classroom is rewarded by being a part of our Tribal Council. They have been nominated by their teacher because they were implementing our weekly focused skill. These students' names are announced during lunch and they get to eat with a principal, teacher, and/or commmunity member.
Please encourage your child to practice these behaviors and social skills at home and in the community of Jackson.
