In Art Class right now students are working on a variety of projects including:
Kindergarten- Patterns and shapes. Students just finished color mixing painting and are now working on making animals using shapes and patterns to create different art projects.
1st Grade-just finished a weaving with warm and cool colors and then we did a fall symtrical print by folding a paper making a tree reflection. Students are about to start a projects dealing with winter and crayons and watercolor.
2nd Grade- Students just finished a starry night sky after looking at Vincent Van Goghs paintings.
3rd Grade- Students just finished a name design dealing with Complementary colors and are about to start a project dealing with citys and what would happen if a friendly giant came to town. We will talk about proportion and scale.
4th Grade- Students are finishing up a African Mask. Students looked at a variety of masks and we discussed what a mask is. We then discussed symmetry and Neutral colors.
5th Grade- Have been talking about one point perspective and how to make things look three dimensional with shading and all lines going to one point.
All classes are about to start making different grade specific projects that can be given as Christmas gifts but I cant tell what they all are- it’s a secret! J
I would also like to remind parents about Artsonia and how 15% of purchases made from that website comes back to our school to benefit the art program. If parents have lost their child's key code or Artsonia name they can contact me through email or send a note with their child! These make wonderful Christmas Gifts for family members as well!
Thanks,
Lacey Job, Art Teacher
