For 3rd quarter, we will continue reviewing story elements and the parts of a book. During the shared reading, I will also cover the genres of biography and autobiography. Additionally, we will attend a program with a visiting author, Judy Young. Our classes will start to read and discuss her stories in preparation for Mrs. Young’s visit.
We will also continue reading the Show Me Readers. The purpose of the Show Me Readers Award is to promote literature, literacy and reading in Missouri elementary school grades 1-3, and to recognize authors and illustrators of books that are favorites of Missouri children in these grades. Each year, Missouri schoolchildren vote for their favorite book from a list of nominated titles. Millersville students will vote for their favorite by the end of our unit.
