To receive benefits you must complete a Free and Reduced Price School Meals Family application with a list of everyone in the household. The application is mailed to each family in mid July, can be picked up at the school office or you can print one off by clicking here. To assure a quick response, fill out all required information correctly and return the form to the school office or mail to Jackson R-2 Schools, 614 East Adams, Jackson, MO 63755. Part 1 (Children in School) – List all the children attending Jackson R-2 Schools, school name, grade, and food stamp or temporary assistance number if applicable . Part 2 (Foster Child) – Complete this section ONLY if a foster child. Part 3 (Total Household Gross Income) - List all household members, income or check box if NO income. Part 4 (Signature and Social Security Number) – Adult completing the application must sign, date, and include the social security number of the household adult member who signed the application. An application cannot be approved without an adult household member signature and social security number. For further information you may call the Food Service Director or Food Service Designee. You will be notified by mail whether your application has been approved for Free or Reduced meals or if it has been denied.

The National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program require an application be sent home with each student in the district. The program provides free and reduced meals for children of families unable to pay full price for the meals. To apply for these benefits, parents of students must fill out this application and return it to their school office or the administration office at Jackson R-2 Schools, 614 East Adams, Jackson, MO 63755. A new application must be filled out at the beginning of each year, on a current year application form. Meal benefits, breakfast and lunch meal service begins on the day the application is approved in the administration office and continues throughout the school year and the first thirty (30) days of the next school year. Any student who does not have a current application on file in the Administration Office will be unable to receive free/reduced meal benefits after thirty calendar days into the new school year.

Students in grades K-12 are allowed to charge up to $15.00 for lunch. If students already owe the maximum allowed, the student will be offered a peanut butter sandwich or cheese and crackers with a carton of milk at no charge to their account. Breakfast may not be charged if a student exceeds the maximum charge limit allowed.

Parents are responsible for monitoring the amount of money in their child’s account and for paying back any charges incurred.

The department is always looking for enthusiastic individuals who are interested in serving children. Vacant positions are posted on the district web page or in the local newspaper.

The Food Service team is excited about providing meals for your student(s) in the Jackson R-2 School District. We provide breakfast and lunch at all 9 school locations. Our elementary students may choose one of two entrées offered each day served with nutritious sides at lunch. Our secondary program students may build their lunch tray to their taste, they may choose an entrée with any additional 3 items, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, salads, juice, and milk.

Our district offers a balanced breakfast to jump start the student’s day. It helps improve a positive effect on student’s alertness, attention, and other skills important to academic success.

Jackson R-2 School Food Service offers a variety of healthy meal choices for breakfast and lunch to all students through the National School Lunch and Breakfast program. This program also allows us to offer free meal benefits to students that qualify through an application process.

Students who qualify for free meals can receive a free breakfast and lunch every day.

REMEMBER: Breakfast is served each morning from 7:30-8:00am in ALL schools enabling students to get a jump start to their day!

NOTE: Prior to approval of the Free and Reduced Price Meals application, parent/guardians are responsible for the payment of all meals until the application is processed.
