The A+ Schools Program benefits students, school districts, and communities. More than 106,500 students have qualified for the A+ financial incentive since the program’s inception in 1993. Subsequent to 1997, more than 44,100 eligible students have utilized at least one semester of the financial incentive.  For 2009-2010, the General Assembly has appropriated $25.2 million to support the A+ Program.  Don’t miss out on a great opportunity for extending your education. What is the A+ Schools Program? This program was created by the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993 as an incentive for improving Missouri’s high schools. The   primary goal is to ensure that all students who graduate from Missouri high schools are well prepared to pursue advanced education and employment.  Participating high schools, like Jackson, are encouraged to reduce the dropout rate, raise academic expectations by eliminating general-track courses, provide career pathways for all students, and work closely with business and higher-education leaders to better prepare students for their lives after graduation. Students who graduate from a designated A+ high school may qualify for a state-paid financial incentive to attend any public community college or career/technical school in Missouri if they meet the requirements listed below. A+ Brochure A+ Fact Sheet How do you get signed up for the A+ Schools Program?  Students enter into a written agreement with the high school prior to graduation.  Students may pick up applications in the counselor’s office. Students must attend an A+ designated school for three consecutive years immediately prior to graduation to qualify.  A+ Written Agreement   A+ Program Requirements: Requirements include:  graduate with an overall GPA of 6.785 or higher on a 11-point scale, have an average attendance rate of at least 95% during the four years of high school, perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring in the Jackson School District (we will work with students to set this up), and maintain a record of good citizenship by avoiding the use of drugs and alcohol.
